Instagram!

Yes, I know. I am a bit behind on the whole Instagram thing. I am just now finding out how kinda awesome it is. I think at first I was a bit reluctant because it was only for the cool iphone people for the longest time. BUT, now I'm finally hoping on the bandwagon. Although, I still feel like I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet. After my failed attempts at trying to use twitter, I have my doubts. Instagram seems a whole lot easier though, like the simplified version of twitter with added pretty pictures! Anyways, now I can follow all my favorite blogs and people! I was surprised how many people were on there. But then again I am a bit late in the game with the whole technology thing.

I normally try to post at least one doodle a day! Mostly cause it will keep me doodling if I have a goal! That way I'm always trying to be creative everyday. But man, there are some really awesome doodlers on there. So, you can follow me and my random doodles, if you would like too!

Doodling on my bike!

So at the beginning of summer I fixed up and painted my bike. As you can see HERE. I finally got around to taking a sharpie to it and giving it some cool tattoos! Its been a slow process, mostly cause I just kinda did a little here and there. But now its finally done! Well, for the most part, I'll still probably randomly add new little doodles here and there. I figured next year I'll probably rip it all apart again and re-paint it, so what ever drawings I do are only going to last the rest of the year. (before its too cold to ride my bike anywhere.)

I always have to name things. It's strange I know. But I named my bike PISTACHIO! Mostly because of the green color and it's just fun to say!

I went more geometric with the designs that I did mostly cause I wasn't sure how easy it would be to draw on the roundy parts.

After I was done I sprayed it with a clear coat sealant. Mostly to keep it from fading or rubbing off. Although be careful because I got a little too close and it make the design a bit fuzzy and drippy.

I think next time I'll do something more flowery, just to match my basket better.

There is still a lot of blank spaces that I think could use some doodles. I was thinking less is more, but it might look really cool if the whole thing was covered in these kind of patterns. I'll have to remember that for next year.

Go ride your bike! Before its too cold!

Sketches

Lately I've been getting quite behind on my correspondence. I love snail mail and I always put extra love into every letter I send, but in the long run it takes me forever just to send a simple note. As my letters get piled up other projects are getting done. So, not a complete loss. I'm still being productive just not productively sending letters.  Other projects I've been working on are new tee shirt designs and new sticker designs! I'm also excited to make some nifty lil' note cards. Which should help me get caught up on my snail mail because I love sending handmade cards! Finally worked out some sketches and scanned them in. Now all I need to do is clean them up and get them ready for printing!

Alright, I know the sketches are rough. I mean really, really rough. But these silly little doodles help out a ton when I'm putting it into illustrator.

Flower sticker designs. Hopefully we'll be able to finally use our new sticker maker!

Forest on the water. Inspired from one of my favorite films The Science of Sleep. This one still has a lot of details to work out.  So we'll see how that turns out, it might not work out. It wouldn't be the first time.

Note card design I'm working on. Secret notes!

Blogs About Hair

Man, it always seems like I've this endless battle with my hairs. I mean 80% of the time my hair treats me pretty good. But that other 20%  of the time it says your fringe is going to stick straight up today and don't even think about trying to get rid of the frizziness. So lately I've been reading lots of things about hair and things to do with it and ways to treat it so it's healthier and all that jazz. One of my favorite blogs that I want to share is SHE LET HER HAIR DOWN.  They have so many nifty tutorials. Most of the time I read these and am super pumped to try them and then10 minutes into it my arms are aching and my frustration is steadily increasing. But all of these are pretty doable. THIS is my favorite tutorial of theirs and the one I've had most success at. It's a great go-to when I don't want to spend the 25 minutes straightening my hair. I also love what they have to say about trimming your bangs. But sometimes you just wake up and feel like that darn fringe needs to be trimmed! Too many times I've ended up with wonky fringe for a couple weeks because of this impulse. But now I'm too lazy to go get it trimmed and they are slowly trying to take over my face. I'm going to try and hold off and go get it done, but if you see me with crooked bangs you'll know that my laziness won and I turned it into a DIY project.

Also, I love all of THESE tips and tricks that A BEAUTIFUL MESS has put together. I'm especially in love with THIS bow tutorial, but ever since I chopped my hair off it's a bit tricky. Still unsuccessful with that one, but I'm still working at it. I would also love LOVE to be brave enough to have hair like THIS. Isn't it just neato. That girly over at THE DAINTY SQUID is just supa cool. The lovelies over at TIGER IN A JAR have put together THIS little video that is dreamy sweetness to die for. Doesn't it make you want to braid your hair? I'm definitely going to have to get better at braids.

Phew, I think I'm done rambling. Lots of clickity clicking to do. Not sure why I've done and entire blog post of just links, but hey I love reading other peoples blogs so it was bound to happen soon or later. Hop to it! You'll learn some nifty tricks and discover a couple awesome blogs.

Have a beautiful day!

Flapper Talk: Kippy

Today's flapper word is kippy. It has almost the same meaning as bee's knees and is almost as much fun to say. I think I have successfully incorporated bee's knees into my everyday vocabulary. I've a feeling kippy is going to be a bit more difficult. Also, I'm not 100% sure I've been using it in the correct context. But it's not going to stop me now! I've also stumbled upon THESE tips on how to be a flapper girl. I don't think I'm ready to fully commit to being a flapper girl. But who knows, after I spiffy up my vocabulary maybe dressing the part won't make it seem so odd.

KIPPY= Nice or neat

Flapper Talk: Bee's Knees

I was talking to a friend the other day about some new CD releases. I told him,"that new song is the bee's knees." He had no clue what I was talking about. Now, I know I use lots of odd words that people don't these days but I thought everyone knew that one. I wasn't sure how to explain it. We all know that it means something good, but I wanted to explain where it came from. So, after some searching on the interweb I came up empty handed. BUT, I did find out a lot more words that I haven't been using. I was also reading about a flapper magazine that was released in the 1920's. You can read about it HERE. My goal now is to learn as many flapper words as I can and use them through out the day. Today's word is bee's knees.

BEE'S KNEES= Anything good.
Example: That song is the bee's knees.

Today feels like an Avett Brothers day.

Do you ever wake up and have a song stuck in your head? Happens to me all the time. Today I woke up the Avett Brothers singing "I and Love and You" in my head. So, I did these drawings and made this playlist. Happy weekend.
