Where did fall go?

  Well, all the weather men have been in a fuss all week. Apparently we are due for some snow this weekend. Which I can't say I'm completely opposed too, but where the hell did fall go? Didn't it seem like we were just soaking in the smell of falling wet leaves...and now its time for snow! I must admit I have been spoiled these past couple weeks. We've had lovely sunny weather with chilly nights. Which is my favorite thing about autumn! But I guess winter was approaching whether I wanted it too or not. In the end it's safe to say that time is just going by way too fast.

I was wandering around outside the other day. Its official that death has swept though the living plants outdoors. Here's just a couple pictures I took while meandering. Now, I know that I'm not a that great of a photographer. But that's not gonna stop me! Plus, these pictures turned out pretty well considering I took them with my phone. And really I just wanted to play with the new photo editor on my new computer. I figured so it wasn't a complete waste of time I'd post the pictures.

Anyways, bundle up cause some snow is a coming! Time to get out the mittens!

Photo Challenge..er.. Project Thingy

I've always thought that disposable camera projects were really cool. There are tons of them out there that you can participate in. I first read about it on a kick-starter page for a project that  is consisted of cameras left in public places in New York for strangers to take pictures. Which seems like a neat idea. Then I was reading about The Disposable Memory Project. Which was kinda the same idea but more world wide.  Anyways I wanted to start one of these kinda projects. But my problem was I wasn't sure how much money and time I wanted to invest in a project like this. I feel like way too much of the success rate relies on the stranger taking the photos and returning  the camera. So, I came up with my own version of the project and am just sending these cameras out to my snail mail pen pals around the world. I've compiled a little list that's more of a guide line for them to follow and sent out a few cameras.

yeah, I know I accidentally typed 12 twice. Typewriters don't have a back space. 

Now, I've only sent out 3 of these and have yet to receive one back. So the success is kinda up in the air. But I'm hoping that if it works out well I can send these to all my pen pals. It will just be fun to kinda see what they see everyday. Yeah, that sounds creepy, but you know what I mean. Taking the "stranger" part out of the project. I have a feeling that there are still some little details to work out. Hopefully with these test ones I'll get all the kinks worked out.

Payday Zine

So I've always liked zines. I tried a while ago to make one of my own but it wasn't really my thing. Anyways a while ago I was roaming around on kickstarter and found this project of a guy making a zine called PAYDAY. You can read more about it HERE. At first I thought it was a cool idea, making a statement and sharing his interesting point of view and also stories that this guy has found along the way of being a working man. But what I was really intrigued with was his way of binding it all together by putting all the little photos in a wallet. I thought ok, that's witty but seemed like it might be a bit awkward to handle. Once I got mine in the mail and started looking through it I thought that whole thing was really successful. I mean zines are supposed to be simple and have something to say.( At least in my opinion.) This guy has some mad photography skills and I would donate again in a heart beat. He is a volunteer photography teacher, flower delivery man and a damn good photographer on top of all that. You know this guy has to be pretty cool and have something to say. Check out his BLOG! 

Man, he really packed these little photo cards into these wallets.  It feels like each time I go to look at it I find a new picture. Zoei also got one and I was surprised that it didn't have very many repeat photos. 

Aren't creative people just so cool.

Juice Box Camera

This is one of my newest cameras and one of my favorites! At first I was a little weary because I thought that it might not take very good pictures just because it was so simple. But man I was wrong. Who ever said simple was a bad thing! I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this little camera. In my opinion this is the PERFECT camera if you like the idea of film photography but don't want to commit and spend all the money and hours looking up the know how of it ALL. It's a simple little point and shoot camera that is so easy to use and yields some amazing results. Both of my favorite online stores carry them HERE and THERE. Also, I found THIS little review about it's awesomeness.

Good things:
-Easy peasy lemon squeezy to use!
-35mm
-Fixed settings, so you don't have to worry about adjusting. Just point and shoot!
-Super oober adorable.
-Nice and small so it can fit in your purse with out taking up all the space. I guess it could fit in your pocket, if you really wanted it too.
-Has awesome light leaks for a lovely lomography feel to it.
-Super affordable! its only 25$! (I seriously want to collect them all!)

Not so good things:
-Fixed settings, you get the same result every time. not very versatile if your photography savvy.
-No flash= no night time use
-Its small so my finger ended up in a couple of them. But now I know don't clobber it with my hunky fingers.

Go get yourself one of these cameras and just keep it in your purse...um, or pocket. Don't forget to follow rule #1. Take your camera everywhere you go. You'll thank me later once your walls are filled with lovely photos from your juice box camera.

Diana Mini

I love all my cameras but my MINI has to be one of my all time favorites. It was my first ever lomography camera! Lots of trail and error with this one. There are so many cool things about this camera. But the coolest thing, is just the way is looks. It almost looks like it shouldn't work. That maybe its just a toy. But it does work and takes amazing photos! Here is a list of pros and cons, according to Remi.

Good things:
- Its 35mm, easy to get developed
-Super compact and travels easily
-Has two format settings (half or square) which basically means you can cram a whole lotta pictures on a roll of film when you're only shooting half frame.
-Compatible with Diana flash

Not so good things:
-Its so little that the flash makes it top heavy and awkward to handle
-The parts inside are so delicate and small that its easy to break

Here are some pictures I've taken with the mini. Unfortunately I was a little rough and broke my advance wheel. So, my little lady is out of commission. But I still got some good pictures out of it and now I have an excuse to buy THIS one.

Blackbird Fly

If you know me you know that I love lomography, plastic cameras and film photography! So, I thought I would take a minute to write about the BLACKBRID FLY, twin lens reflex camera. This is one of my favorites in my lil'collection. I never really take my photography seriously, I'm more of a point and shoot kinda gal and see what kinda results I get. Although I always make sure to take the lens cap off.

Reasons why I'm in love:

- Sprocket holes. I have yet to use this feature, but just knowing that its an option is awesome.

-35mm film format. You can get it developed pretty much anywhere.

-Twin lens! Because twins are always better!

Reasons why you might not be in love:

-Kinda tricky to load.

-A bit pricy

-limited colors (comparing to other flashy plastic cameras out there.)

Here are some pictures that I've taken with my lil'bird. I like how these photos turned out, but I was silly and loaded some red scale film. So you totally can't tell that the rocks are bright red, but I still like they way they turned out.
